Eduardo Bastos - CEO

Agronomist with a degree from ESALQ/USP, and MBA in Business Management from Fundação Dom Cabral (FDC) and a Marketing MBA from Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV). He is Executive Director of the Agribusiness Studies Institute (IEAG) at ABAG (Brazilian Agribusiness Association) and chairs its Sustainability Committee; President of the AgroCarbon Chamber at the Ministry of Agriculture and member of the Interministerial Committee for the National Plan for the Conversion of Degraded Pastures (PNCPD); President of the Innovation Council at CCarbon / USP (Research Center for Carbon in Tropical Agriculture); and Board Member of COSAG/FIESP (Agribusiness Superior Council of FIESP).

He previously served as CEO of Minerva Foods (MyCarbon division); Sustainability Director for Latin America at Bayer CropScience; and Director of Institutional Relations at Dow. He was also CEO of AIPC (Cocoa Processing Industry Association) and Chairman of the Board of GTPS (Sustainable Livestock Working Group). He is a guest lecturer at Rehagro and Cumbre.

Eduardo Caldas - Director of Institutional Relations

Agronomist graduated from the University of Brasília (UnB), Eduardo holds a master’s degree in Agriculture with a focus on Agricultural Economics from Obihiro University, Japan, and an MBA in Government Relations from Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV). He has extensive experience in strategic positions, including serving as Brazil Coordinator for the Tropical Forest Alliance, linked to the World Economic Forum; Technical Advisor at the Brazilian Confederation of Agriculture and Livestock; and Project Manager at Apex-Brasil.

 

Eduardo has also worked as a consultant for leading international organizations, such as the World Bank. He has participated in fellowship programs at CODA, The Nature Conservancy (TNC), focusing on sustainable cattle ranching in Brazil’s Cerrado biome, and at the Internationalization, Innovation, and Sustainable Entrepreneurship Research Center (IISERC), a think tank supported by the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Shenzhen Institute of Data Economy.

Marisa Ohashi - Chief Operating Officer

Marisa holds both a Master’s and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV), as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the University of São Paulo (USP). She has served as a Fiscal Council Member at OXFAM Brazil since 2019 and is a member of the Third Sector Law Commission of the São Paulo Bar Association (OAB-SP) for the 2025–2027 term.

With 20 years of experience in the Third Sector, she has led complex organizational transformations and managed key institutional areas — including Governance, Strategy and Planning, Compliance, Finance, and People & Culture at organizations including GIFE, Fundação Bradesco, and Alana, where she served as Executive Director of Operations.

Eleni Gritzapis
Communications Consultant

Eleni brings over 25 years of experience in Corporate Communications, Advocacy, Public Affairs, Reputation Management, ESG, and Crisis Management throughout Brazil and Latin America.

She holds a degree in Journalism and a postgraduate certificate in Public Relations and Organizational Communication from the University of São Paulo (USP), along with executive education from Saïd Business School – Oxford, Kellogg/Northwestern, and Columbia University.

Named Communicator of the Year at the 2021 Aberje Awards, Eleni has received multiple recognitions throughout her career in Corporate Communications and Public Relations.

She has worked with multinational companies and agencies across both B2B and B2C sectors, leading high-impact strategic initiatives in a variety of cultural, industry, and regional contexts — with a strong focus on reputation, stakeholder engagement, and institutional value creation.

Board of directors

Instituto Equilíbrio’s Board of Directors is an independent body composed of prominent Brazilian experts and leaders in key areas relevant to the Institute’s mission  — including agribusiness, climate change, public policy, academia/science, and governance/civil society. Its primary role is to provide high-level strategic analysis, serving as a forum for informed dialogue, critical reflection, and ongoing review of the Institute’s strategy and activities.
